SKU: 12006044 Engine Tests Indicate Acceptable Power and Emissions for DME Operation: As part of the next-generation low-emission vehicle development program funded by the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT), engineers at Nissan Diesel Co., Ltd., and researchers at the National Traffic Safety and Environment Laboratory (NTSEL) developed a diesel engine for heavy-duty truck application (20-ton GVW) that operates on DME. The combustion system, mainly the fuel injection system of a 6.925-liter, turbocharged, inline six-cylinder, DI diesel engine equipped with a NOx storage and reduction catalyst was modified to optimize the fuel injection parameters to produce power and torque in DME operation comparable to those in diesel operation. NOx control techniques and engine performance and exhaust emissions characteristics are reported. The chapter includes 10 pages, 2 tables, and 11 figures
